File Manager

Open a site's Files tab to browse, edit and upload files in the browser — no SFTP client needed.

What you can do

• Browse folders; the path bar always starts at the site user's home (~).
• Upload up to 20 files per request (128 MB per file, about 130 MB total).
• Create files and folders, rename, delete (also several at once), change permissions (click the mode, e.g. 644). Creating a file never replaces an existing name; use the editor to change its contents.
• Zip selected items. Extract a .zip (its row button or right-click → Extract…) into a new folder named after the archive, or into the current folder (files with the same name are replaced).
• Edit text files up to 2 MB in a window over the file list, so you stay in the folder; save with Ctrl/⌘ + S. Closing with unsaved changes asks first. Middle-click a file to edit it on its own page.
• Download any file.
• Folder tree on the left (wider screens): expand folders, click one to open it, drop rows on it to move them there.
• Select like on the desktop: click a row to select it, double-click to open a folder or file (on touch screens a tap opens), Ctrl/⌘ + click to add or remove rows, Shift + click to select a range, Ctrl/⌘ + A for all.
• Drag and drop: drag selected rows onto a folder row, .. or a folder in the tree to move them; drop files from your computer anywhere on the list to upload them to the open folder (drop them on a folder in the tree to upload there).
• Sort by clicking a column header (Name, Size, Owner, Modified, Mode); click again to reverse. Folders stay on top, and the order is kept while you move between folders.
• The Owner column shows user:group on wide screens; the refresh button reloads the folder.
• Right-click a row for its actions: open or edit, download, rename, permissions, copy path, copy, cut, compress, extract and delete. With several rows selected the menu applies to all of them; right-click an empty area to paste or create a file or folder.
• Keyboard: ↑ / ↓ move the selection (Shift extends it), Enter opens the selected row, F2 renames it, Delete deletes the selection, Backspace goes up a folder, Esc closes the menu or clears the selection.
• Copy, cut and paste between folders (Ctrl/⌘ + C / X / V); a name that already exists gets (copy). Symbolic links are copied as links (their target is not followed). Delete removes the selection after confirmation.

The release an atomic deploy is serving (htdocs/<domain> points to it) cannot be deleted, renamed or moved; deploy or activate another release first.

How it stays safe

Every operation runs as the site user, never as root: XAXA's agent starts a small helper with runuser, and the helper refuses any path outside the user's home directory — including symlinks that point outside it. Archives with absolute paths or .. entries are rejected before extraction.
